Note : The stuff written below is not completely mine. I have put in my part of it as well as gathered information from androidadvices.com, dialandroid.com and a few other places and posted here for your ease. 🙂
I had installed ICS alpha on my Galaxy Ace S5830. There were a few glitches owing to which I shifted to The Myth ICS.
The problems I faced while I was running ICS alpha were:
- My camera was not working.
- Screenshots were difficult. Not impossible, though.
- Phone responded late, which is obvious since I was using alpha version.
- USB debugging will not be possible. More things are needed for that. Mail me if you need that information, better not use this alpha version. Nevertheless my friend Jay Rambhia found a solution to it. Switch off the device. Press the power button and center button simultaneously and leave the power button as you see Samsung. Go to mounts and storage. Select mount USB storage.
This will save the burden of doing it the hard way. 😉

The Screenshots of ICS alpha version which I somehow took are:
Somehow, I did not want to continue with a ROM which had lags. So I shifted to ICS Myth.
Custom ROM firmware is mainly based on the Gingerbread 2.3.5 BUKS1 but if you have a look at the build number and the interface it’s an exact replica of the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.1 version. In the due course of the article, we will check out on what are the features of this version. Please note that this is not an Official version of firmware which is released by Samsung Electronics.
Features of Myth Custom ROM Firmware:
- Rooted Custom ROM Firmware,
- Apps 2 SD Feature comes pre-loaded,
- CRT Off Enabled,
- Over Scroll Glow is enabled,
- Extended Power Menu,
- Preloaded with Google Maps 5.11,
- Semi-transparent Touch Wiz,
- ICS styled icons,
- Android Market Powered with 3.3.12,
- Disabled journaling ext4,
- Comes with ICS 4,
- Comes with Styled dialer, BLN Service, Google Music,
- Custom Boot animation,
- ICS Gennie widget,
- ICS Clock Widget,
- Supports Flash 10.1, 10.2 & 10.
Note: Don’t use KIES to backup as KIES won’t be detecting the phone after this update since it’s a custom ROM.3

How to Install Ice cream Sandwich ICS The Myth ROM on Samsung Galaxy Ace
Prerequisites
- Ensure that you are on gingerbread 2.3.* (Ace GingerBread guide)
- CWM recovery(Install CWM on Ace)
- Download TheMythICS_Lite.zip file Download Link
Steps to Install The Myth ICS ROM on your Ace S5830
- Make Sure your phone is running on Android Gingerbread 2.3.*
- Install the CWM recovery (see Galacy Ace CWM Installation Guide)
- Copy TheMythICS_Lite.zip file to SD card
- Backup all your data and charge your phone to a good battery level
- Switch off your phone and re start it in CWM mode by pressing home+power button
- goto wipe data/Factory reset >> click yes
- Wipe cache partition >> Click yes
- Goto Install Zip from SD card >> select the TheMythICS_Lite.zip file >> Click yes
- When it shows install from Sdcard complete >> goto main menu and restart the phone.
When you boot it first time it may take 5-10 minutes. So be patient.
Thats it.. You have ICS on Galaxy Ace S5830 now., Enjoy

Sorry for late reply.
Switch off the phone, go to the recovery mode, select mounts and storage, select – mount USB storage. You will get access to the files on your sd card. Then replace the aplha file and follow the steps mentioned in the above post.

You need to just paste the .zip file of The Myth ICS Beta 2 Lite on your sd card. Let the alpha file be there. And then follow the instructions from the video and it will be done. Let me know if it helped.

Just down the .zip file of the stock mod you want, copy it in your sd card, and flash it. You don’t need to delete the .zip file you downloaded for ICS, in case you may want to use it again, someday!

It would be better if your phone is upgraded to 2.3
But, if not, even then it doesn’t matter 🙂
btw, my samsung ace is now with cm9 nightly rom..can i just directly change to imaginary rom by using the same way ? clear data then clear cache then install zip, but do i need to clear dalvik cache ? help thanks a lot
You don’t need to clear dalvik cache. Just install the zip file and it will be done.

i downloaded themythICSblack and saved it in the sd card and then by pressing the power and home button i deleted d factory and cache and tried to install it from my sd card.the installation showed error status and failed.after that the phone is just showing the samsung screen and then after 20 mins blank screen.what to do now?its my brother’s phone and i am scared!!!

Hey,
Don’t panic.
Download ODIN for your Windows PC.
If you are an Ubuntu user, you need to revert back for this small work of ODIN.
The .zip file is yet not deleted as per what you said.
If it is, then download it again to your sd card maybe from some other device.
Then, switch on your phone and go in the downloading mode. As you go in that mode, phone will be switched off and will go in downloading mode. Then install the .zip file as per ODIN instructions.
It will work.

hd games like need for speed or gta with high graphic are supportable to the myth rom ics 4.0 if i install it to my galaxy ace s5830i?
If ICS 4.0 supports those games, then even ICS Myth ROM will.

You need to switch off the device and then press power and center button at the same time. Leave the power button as you see Samsung logo on the screen. Then you can follow the steps mentioned in the post. If still facing any problem, go to my website and you can contact me via phone. Cheers! 🙂

can please tell me what the different between alpha and beta files
Alpha version is the very basic version of development stage wherein the owner of the product/service just wants his product/service to be tested between his pals for testing. Beta is a stage higher than alpha. You can trust beta files anyday as compared to alpha file. But wait for some time and you may get the complete product/service. You can always trust that since it is properly tested.
Once install The Myth ICS Beta 2 Lite i find link2sd not working.

Found the fault. 🙂 previously on stock rom, the link2sd was on ext2 partition. but once cwm formatted the partion is converted to ext3. solved.

Yes. If you want to flash MYTH ICS ROM, then you need to root your phone.

@User: Okay so lets clear this thing. I re-read my answer and realized that I wrote ‘need to’. I am sorry for that, my bad. You can flash without rooting.
But there are some of the apps which do not work if your device is not rooted. If you are fine with it, you need not root your device. Cheers! 🙂
When i First flash this ROM, root was automatically Set .. i dont have to root my device in any other way… i can use all apps which needs root, like superuser or tweaks… all of Them works fine… so you device gets rootet by install this Rom… cheers 😀
